Datong is a cultural and tourist city with great partiality. The city
experienced its golden age in the ancient period as the capital city of the
Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), as the western capital of the Liao (916-
1125) and Jin (1115-1234) Dynasties, and as a city of strategic importance
in the Ming (1368-1644) and Qin (1644-1911) Dynasties. Located between
the inner Great Wall and the outer Great Wall, Datong has been the frontier
line between Han Chinse and northern nomadic nationalities. From time
immemorial, it has been the place of integration of different nationalities
which creates unique multi-culture characteristics. As ‘Historic and
Ancient Cities of China’, Datong boasts abundant tourism resources. Its
long city history, glamourous ancient capital history and multi-national
integration created a profound ancient culture and magnificent historic and
cultural relics. The unique geological resources within the region provides
advantage to develop new cultural and tourism formats such as ice and
snow industry, hot spring industry and sports industry. Datong is striving
