coalfield dating back to 140 million years ago. Covering an area of 8,000 square
meters, Datong Coal Museum is a large scale geological and mining museum.
The architectural modeling of the museum takes shape of mineral crystal in dark
blue which originally from the texture of coal, coal particle and coal gangue. The
museum is constituted with five exhibition areas, namely, coal formation, coal
mining, coal utilization, coal cultural and energy revolution and rejuvenate Datong
Coal Mine Group.
