1. 云冈石窟 | Yungang Grottoes

世界文化遗产云冈石窟是公元 5 世
纪中西文化融合的历史丰碑,位于大同
城西 16 公里的武州山南麓,依山开凿,
东西绵延 1 公里,现存大小窟龛 254 个、
主要洞窟 45 个、造像 59000 余尊。云冈
石窟是中国古代鲜卑族建立的北魏王朝
定都平城(今大同)期间开凿的皇家工
程,吸收融合了中亚的犍陀罗艺术和印
度本土的秣菟罗艺术风格。云冈石窟与
敦煌莫高窟、洛阳龙门石窟并称中国三大石窟,与印度阿旃陀石窟、阿富汗巴米
扬石窟并称世界三大石雕艺术宝库。1961 年,云冈石窟被国务院公布为第一批全
国重点文物保护单位;2001 年,被联合国教科文组织列入《世界文化遗产名录》;
2007 年,成为国家首批 5A 级旅游景区。
The World cultural Heritage site of
the Yungang Grottoes is mile stone
of exchanges between diversified
cultures from the east and the west
in the 5th Century. Located at the
southern foot of Wuzhou Mountain,
16 kilometers west of Datong City,
Yungang Grottoes were carved into
the mountain and extend about one
kilometer from east to west. The 45 caves in Yungang Grottoes include some 254
niches with about 59,000 statues. It was a royal project, constructed during the
Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534) founded by the Xianbei Nationality which is a
northern nomadic tribe of China. The Yungang Grottoes are one of the three most
famous Buddhist cave temples together with Mogao Grottoes of Dunhuang, and
Longmen Grottoes of Luoyang, and one of the three most famous treasure houses
of ancient Buddhist art in the world. They are as famous as the Ajanta Caves in
India and Bamiyan Caves in Afghanistan. In 1961, the Yungang Grottoes was
proclaimed as one of the first batch of Key Cultural Relics under the protection
of the Chinese State Council. In 2001, Yungang Grottoes was included as a World
Heritage Site by UNESCO. In 2007, Yungang Grottoes was proclaimed as a
National 5A-grade Tourism Attraction of China.
