3. 大同古城 | Datong Ancient City
大同古城总面积 3.28 平方公里,是中国现存较为完整的一座古代城垣建筑。
明朝洪武五年(公元 1372 年),大将军徐达在北魏、唐、辽、金旧城基础上增筑,
略呈方形,周长 7.24 公里。大同古城基本保存了唐、宋时期 “ 里坊式 ” 的城市布
局,街道总平面呈棋盘式格局。大同古城以四牌楼为中心,东称和阳街,西称清
远街,南称永泰街,北称武定街,四条大街将大同古城分为四隅。大同古城内寺
庙教堂、阁楼牌坊、四合院落交相辉映,旅游服务条件良好。
Covering an area of 3.28 square kilometers, Datong Ancient City is one of
the preserved ancient cities still in good condition in China. It was built in the
period of Hongwu (1372) of the Ming (1368-1644) Dynasty by Xu Da (1332-
1385), senior general of the Ming Dynasty, when he was based in Datong
as military governor. It utilized the old ramparts of the previous Northern
Wei(386-534), Tang(618-907), Liao(916-1125) and Jin (1115-1234) Dynasties.
The perimeter of Datong’s ancient city wall is 7.24 kilometers long. Datong
Ancient City still retains its traditional city layout dating back from the Tang
(618-907) and Song (960-1279) Dynasties and fully developed in the Ming
(1368-1644) Dynasty, conforming to a typical layout of residential wards in
which the plan of the city takes the look of a chessboard. The four main roads,
namely Heyang Road in the east, Qingyuan Road in the west, Yongtai Road
in the south and Wuding Road in the north, meet at Sipailou (Four-archway
Building), taken as the landmark of the center of the ancient city. Numerous
temples, mosques, pavilions, archways, traditional courtyards within Datong
Ancient City add radiance and beauty to each other. High quality tourist
facilities and services are easily accessible within it.
